Tonight, at last, I finally see the recent mini-series remake of
The Prisoner. Will it be as libertarian — almost Randian — in tone as the original? Or will it sadden me in the same way that recent talk of making a “green technology”-themed Tom Swift movie did?

Spare yourself, Todd. THE PRISONER remake is worse than an abomination.
The Prisoner remake, you’ll watch, but you don’t wanna get into BATTLESTAR GALACTICA or LOST? I dunno, man…
Largely a function of scheduling. Would two episodes followed by much-needed sleep strike you as more reasonable?
It seemed all right but not in any important way an addition to what had already been done on the original show. Surprisingly like the original in pacing, actually, the one thing you’d think the twenty-first century would soup up.
The Prisoner remake seemed mild be contrast to the actual politically correct reality we’re now living in. Its overly stylized production distracted from the central themes of individualism that resonated thru the much funkier original. Without the powerful Patrick McGoohan personality to propell the story, the remake flounders in esoteric psychology and photography. An even more harsh and drastic remake would have been better.
