The final two ages you mention-- call them the Busiek-Morrison-Waid-Ross age and the Johns-Bendis-Meltzer-Millar age-- have struggled against each other in the market for a while.  I don't think the former is dead yet, though the latter's ascendant.  They've each had their signature indie series (Astro City vs. Powers), flagship series (Morrison's JLA and Busiek's Avengers, Meltzer's JLA and Bendis' Avengers), and crossovers or events (Kingdom Come/ DC One Million, Civil War/ Identity Crisis).  It's a complicated moment; I wonder how it will be remembered.</description>
