[...] Remembering which Jen is which shouldn’t be difficult: Rev. Jen is obviously from Earth-1 and Jen Dziura from Earth-2 because Supergirl did not exist on Earth-2. All that will probably be clearly explained in issue #52 of the year-long comic book miniseries 52, which, as it happens, hits stands tomorrow, bringing with it the return of the DC Comics “multiverse” and the end of my comics methadone program (namely, reading about comics online as a replacement for buying them for years).
[...] I bring up the burrito in Captain America’s pants, though, because it strikes me as a sort of cultural crossroads that touches on many of the topics recently covered in this blog. Even as DC Comics has recently depicted World War III, Marvel has recently depicted a Civil War among its superheroes, followed closely by World War Hulk, and in between, tragically, Captain America was shot and killed. It’s bad enough he died mere weeks ago, but the burrito incident makes it difficult to think of him having died with dignity. (And as it happens, a reproductive burrito figures prominently in the plot of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie.)
DC Comics has revised his history a couple times, but originally I believe he had no clearly explained origin, and later he was depicted as a robotic creation of the evil god Darkseid. The latter explanation _may_ still hold, as Chang Tzu appears to be at least cybernetic and is affiliated with the Darkseid-linked criminal organization Intergang. Since Darkseid is reportedly one of the main villains in the weekly _52_ sequel series _Countdown_, perhaps we have not seen the last of Egg Fu. Or perhaps the world ends tomorrow.

Like yourself, I have recently decided that comics have come full circle and decided to stop. I still, however, go into comic stores on occasion and buy collectibles.

If your time on methadone ends up being good for nothing other than then the sentence ”Why are you laughing and crying at the same time, Daddy?” in response to the world being destroyed by a giant racial-stereotypic egg, it would still be worth it.
